Hello! I'm Mark

Mark C. Dawkins, Ph.D., MBA, MACC, CPA, CMA, CGMA, joined the Coggin College of Business (Coggin) at the University of North Florida (UNF) as Dean and Distinguished Professor for Excellence in June 2015, and I returned to the accounting faculty on June 27, 2020, as a Professor of Accounting. Prior to this appointment, I was an Associate Professor of Accounting in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia (UGA). At the Terry College, I served as Associate Dean for Academic Programs from 2008-2014, Director of Diversity Relations from 2004-2008, and as an accounting faculty member from 1994-2015. I received a Ph.D. in Accounting from Florida State University, MBA (finance), and MACC (auditing) degrees from the University of Florida, and a BS in Management (accounting) from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Since 1983, AccessLex Institute has continually evolved to meet the ever-changing challenges and needs of the law students and institutions that it serves. It is steadfast in its commitment to inform students of the economic realities of law school without limiting their aspirations. It conducts and commissions research to illuminate the latest data and evidence on the most critical issues facing legal education today. As a nonprofit organization underpinned by nearly 200 American Bar Association-approved nonprofit and state-affiliated law schools, it is intently dedicated to the betterment of legal education. AccessLex Institute has offices in West Chester, PA, and Washington, D.C., with a team of accredited financial education counselors based throughout the United States. It currently has more than $860 million in total net assets.

AUDIT COMMITTEE CHAIR

I joined the Board of Directors of AccessLex Institute on 4/1/16 as Audit Committee chair for a three-year term, and I was re-elected to continue as Audit Committee chair for a third three-year term through 3/31/25. The Audit Committee oversees the following (partial list):

1. annual Audit Committee budget review

2. annual review and approval of audit plan

3. annual review of audit and legal firms' engagement

4. quarterly internal control update

5. quarterly external audit update

6. quarterly internal audit update

7. quarterly financial statement review

8. quarterly IT statistics review

9. quarterly budget process/schedule update and review

10. investigate and respond to Ethics Hotline calls, filings, and/or reports.
